Education and innovation are taking root in northern Uganda! Dallas International University (DIU) has officially launched its Associate of Applied Sciences (AAS) in Agribusiness at the Bobi Agribusiness Institute (BAI)—a groundbreaking step in equipping students with the knowledge and skills to transform Uganda’s agricultural sector.
This program, which began in January 2025 with fifteen students, is the result of a collaborative effort between DIU and BAI. It required three major accreditation approvals—a new program, approval to teach at an international site, and the ability to grant associate degrees. In December 2024, DIU received full accreditation from SACSCOC, marking a major milestone in its vision to become a global hub for higher education.
Why This Program Matters
Agriculture is the backbone of Uganda’s economy, but access to modern agribusiness education has been limited. The AAS in Agribusiness is designed to bridge that gap, equipping students with:
✔ Practical training in agricultural economics, sustainable farming, and agribusiness management
✔ Hands-on learning through labs, workstations, and real-world experience
✔ Specialized tracks in Plant Science or Animal Science to tailor their expertise
✔ Business & communication skills to prepare students for leadership roles in agriculture
With a 61-credit hour curriculum, students will gain the expertise to manage farms, launch agribusiness ventures, and contribute to Uganda’s food security and economic growth.
